What is your life’s purpose?
My life’s purpose is to help others connect to their own life’s purpose, by inspiring them to follow the path of their energy and inner wisdom.
How are you living your purpose?
I am an experienced career transition coach with Deloitte, where I help former employees navigate their job search journey. I believe that health and wellness play a critical role in gaining employees navigate their job search journey. I believe that health and wellness play a critical role in gaining the clarity to identify your life’s work. Therefore, I have to ‘walk the walk’ by making self-care a priority.
In January 2018, I came together with four amazing partners to open The Well North Shore, a health and wellness event venue in Wilmette, Illinois. We host and deliver programs for individuals and groups related to mind/body/spirit. I’m able to kill two birds with one stone—sharing my knowledge and learning from other wellness teachers in the community.
How did you find your purpose?
I always knew I was an intuitive “people person” and was able to use my strengths through coaching. My personal journey allowed me to take it one step further in 2013. After the birth of my third child, I started experiencing painful physical and emotional symptoms—back pain, digestive distress, depression, anxiety—the list went on and on. Upon working through the traditional healthcare system, I was told everything appeared fine and nothing was wrong with me.
I realized I had to take my health into my own hands through research and inspiration from health leaders in the industry (thanks Kris Carr!), I was able to take control of my health through nutrition. I completely changed my diet—going gluten, dairy and mostly sugar free—and have never looked back. Good nutrition has given me back my life and my energy, which I will never take for granted again. You can read more about my journey here.
What advice do you have for purpose seekers?
I believe we are all born with a purpose and are “pulled” toward it throughout our lives. We can find it through: 1. Meditation: Reflect on your inner wisdom and write it down; 2. Energy: Follow your energy. What activities/tasks energize you vs. drain you? What types of articles or podcasts do you gravitate to? What cocktail party conversations perk you up? This is where your purpose lies. Listen to it. Follow it. Eliminate the naysayer in your own mind.
What resources do you recommend?
I listen to podcasts constantly; some of the most inspiring are Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations and the TED Radio Hour. My favorite books are about adventure and pushing your body. A classic is Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by Christopher McDougall. One of the books that changed my life was Way of the Peaceful Warrior: A Book That Changes Lives
by Dan Millman.
