Lori Morrison, Mystic

What is your life’s purpose?
To embrace my soul’s decision to come to earth and fully experience life as a human being.

How are you living your purpose?
I live my purpose in everything I hear, see, smell and sense. My lessons are navigating the peaks and valleys of struggle and celebration, presence and survival, all of which provide an opportunity to reach a higher consciousness. My own expansion into awareness is my gift to others, helping them in their awakening process by removing barriers of limiting beliefs that keep us all from successfully navigating a cosmic field of possibility.

My new book The Shaman’s Guide to Power Animals is a cross-cultural journey into the mystical symbolism and stories of almost 200 birds, fish, insects, and mammals drawn from ancient and indigenous cultures worldwide. It is a spiritual tool for understanding omens when an animal crosses your path or appears in a dream, or to apply in situations where you need protection or want to chart a course or locate resources.

The spirit world is alive and well through the generosity and concern that Power Animals show towards us humans. From the voices of the animals lies the lessons of our connection to all things. Listening and learning we come to know ourselves.

How did you find your purpose?
On my fifty second birthday, while living on my property on the inside of a volcanic lake in Central America, I was hit by a beam of light. After three hours lying in an unconscious state, I awoke to a new perception of the world, immersed in shapes and configurations of sacred geometry, spiritual beings, ancestral and animal spirits and a heightened sensory state of being. This started a shamanic initiation and teachings by Mayan spirits that has lasted over eight years. It was a sharp turn from a previous life of being a left brained entrepreneur who had swept through careers in Wall Street and international businesses. I learned about purpose and life from listening to etheric voices beyond the earthly chatter. My purpose resides in a place of stillness within me; there lies the internal GPS that guides me to freedom from conditioning and the ability to conquer fear and thereby thrive in living.

What advice do you have for purpose seekers?
To realize that your purpose is coming to earth, learning to be a human and trusting the journey, no matter what is laid in your path. To be a pedestrian and observer of life, a student. It would be an impossible task to fully understand the intricacies and orchestrated synchronicity of events that contribute to your life’s journey. This means that you need to see each experience is an ingredient of life, the enrichment of a recipe that has been designed for learning. There is no right or wrong journey, we must trust that the things that happen to us have purpose and often without clarity at the time they occur.  Eventually the tapestry of life is woven and comes into focus. This is the cross stitch for reflection and the moment that we have the opportunity to raise our vibration and contribute to a higher consciousness on our planet. The ultimate purpose is to love yourself so much that it fills you up and spills into the rest of the world, taking you to a place of oneness.

What resources do you recommend?
My favorite books and teachers have been:

Your Soul’s Plan: Discovering the Real Meaning of the Life You Planned Before You Were Born by Robert Schwartz: This was an eye-opening discovery of how we design our lives before coming to earth. It cleared my perceptions of purpose.

Out of the Darkness: From Turmoil to Transformation: Steve Taylor has done a brilliant job in dissecting the experiences of spiritual awakening and given them shape and perspective. This work has built a greater understanding for the modern world and the mental health community to change the view of phenomenon and unusual experiences.

Breaking The Habit of Being Yourself: How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New One by Dr. Joe Dispenza: This has been a foundational book for my wellness practice in helping others to achieve transformation on many levels. It is an approach to self-help through a powerful application of quantum science theory and deep meditation.

I have also loved the work of Joseph Campbell and his theory of the archetypal hero and the study of world mythologies. I became curious when I found out that his work influenced George Lucas and the Star Wars series. I have devoured many of his books about indigenous cultures and his fascinating investigations into unconventional wisdom.

I have also admired Alan Watts and his ability to translate eastern spiritual concepts into modern references to human consciousness. Gregg Braden was an early teacher and I love his books and enjoyed traveling with him to Peru in search of the messages left by indigenous people for us. I have also learned so much about our existence through the application of unified physics in our personal lives from Nassim Haramein and love his film by Malcom Carter, The Connected Universe.

Lori Morrison is the author of The Shaman’s Guide to Power Animals (March 2019). She is a best-selling author, inspirationalist and mystic. She is part of a rare breed of lightening shamans who have received a spontaneous awakening of shamanic knowledge. Lori first journeyed into the shamanic underworld in 2010 where she found the spiritual realm of Power Animals.  Her teachers were Mayan Ancestors who took her through a two-year initiation with the spirits of four Jaguar. Her later intimate connection with Lion, given to her by a Haitian shaman has been an extraordinary experience and has enhanced greatly her healing powers. By merging and forming a sacred relationship with animal spirits she is able to support her clients with insight and change through her cutting-edge shamanic counseling practice in Sedona, Arizona where she resides.
