My Favorite TV Shows

If you know me, you know I love TV. There’s nothing I like better than cozying up on the couch after a long day of work or play and sinking into a great show. I really do believe we are going through a television renaissance, with so many great series produced by both cable and streaming outlets—and the timing couldn’t be more perfect during Covid.

When I fall in love with a show, I fall hard. I binge the series and take every opportunity to bring it up in conversation. I’m always overjoyed when I encounter other fans and we can wax poetic together.

I just finished watching Crazy Ex-Girlfriend—it’s kooky and raunchy and features sporadic singing (what? I am NOT a fan of musicals!) but stick with it and you may just fall in love. I think I have a girl crush on the lead, Rachel Leah Bloom, who exemplifies fearlessness, and I’m actually jealous thinking of some of you who may just be starting the show, knowing you have 4 glorious seasons ahead of you.

So today I’m sharing my favorite TV series that I’ve watched in the last 5 years or so, and hoping you’ll share yours too. These are organized by genre and in no particular order but are all wonderful (according to ME)!

Schitt’s Creek
Parks and Rec
Grace and Frankie
I’m Sorry
Working Moms
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Scenes From a Marriage
Better Things

  1. Mary

I have really gotten into watching TV lately also. Some of my favorites include:

    The Newsroom
    Emma (2009)
    Game of Thrones

    • Hélène

Thanks Emma! I could not get into Game of Thrones and think I need to give Yellowstone another try. I’ll check out the others too.

  2. Laurie Stone

I like a lot of these. Loved Succession and will have to check out the Parisian agency. I’ve seen it but never looked into it.

    • Hélène

      Thanks for commenting Laurie!

  3. Gail

Many already on your list. Definitely Yellowstone & Game of Thrones. A new one starting Wednesday called Both of us (something like that:)

    • Hélène

I’ll check it out thanks Gail!

  4. Jen Rigley

This is a great resource – I love getting new recommendations as I, too, enjoy watching TV. I agree with some of your favs – can’t wait for the next season of Succession. And I do recommend trying Yellowstone again, it took me a few tries but it is now one of my favorites of all time. However, quite a lot of violence so I always hesitate to recommend those ones. I see Hacks on your list so that is one I’m adding to my list. Thank you!

    • Hélène

Thanks Jen! I’m really going to try with Yellowstone. And Hacks is awesome!!

I Wish I’d Said Something…

For most of my life, I have relied on my brain for judgment and decision making. The problem is, there's a lot of noise in my head, and it's not always pleasant. Like my shitty inner critic telling me I'm not worthy and I'm a fraud, I should shut up and let others,...
