Are YOU an Impostor?

I gave a workshop on the Impostor Syndrome last week, in my new membership. It’s a topic that resonates with many of us who somehow, no matter our successes and expertise, fear that at any moment we’ll be discovered for the frauds we really are. (Want to watch the replay? Join my membership!

After I taught my 3-step process to address impostor feelings when they show up, our group of women 40+ had a wide-ranging discussion that included how we show up authentically, in all our perfect imperfection. We talked about all the ways in which we hide, often behind a facade that belies our all-too-human challenges. This curated version of ourselves, while it may feel self-protective, actually feeds on our fears and keeps us small. It inhibits risk taking (for fear of failure) and meaningful connection  (for fear for rejection).

I shared that I resonate most with people who respond to my openness with that same transparency rather than guarding and protecting behind their facade. Vulnerability is a potent connector. But it’s up to each and every one of us to show up brave and willing.

YOUR TURN: How can YOU show up with vulnerability and invite a deeper connection in your relationships?
